RiverSong Choir

Several current members of RiverSong started singing in 2011, with Jodie O'Regan's choir "Choral Garden". Jodie spent 2014 studying, then came to Mylor looking to setup a new choir. Our core membership then was about 10, variously known as "The Mylor Mob" or "The Flamin' Galahs"; neither name stuck.

Jodie had to quit teaching after a vocal cord operation; her prescription was complete vocal rest. Fortunately for us, she recruited OperaSA emerging talent, soprano Bethany Hill to take over the reins. "RiverSong" choir was born - the name adopted from the Riversong Art Gallery. Bethany led us to a "Spring Awakenings" concert performance at Scott Creek Hall, and a great RiverSong concert at Mylor Hall in November 2017. As Bethany's professional commitments grew, Alex Roose took over until the end of 2018. That year the concert was held at the Mylor Uniting Church.

In 2019 Janet Leitch, former music teacher at Mylor Primary School, became our Musical Director. Janet, at first unsure about managing an accapella choir, has been very good for us. Her musical arrangments are good and often challenging. But that's what we need to continue improvement,

Our numbers have grown to 21. but more are welcome. If you're interested in singing with us, just turn up. No audition is required. We meet on Mondays from 1:30 to 3:00pm in the Mylor Uniting Church.

Singing is known to provide enormous health benefits, join us, and see for yourself.
